Revised by Jean-Louis Baumadier, Giulio Briccialdi’s Mazurka for flute and piano, op. 88 is a charismatic Polish folk dance. Typically heard performed on the flute, this revision too is quite beautiful on the piccolo. This solo work is intermediate in level, requiring the piccoloist even fingers, crisp articulation, and the ability to soar across the entire range instrument. This solo is approximately ten minutes in length, providing a delightful and substantial portion of a recital program.
