Dothel, N
Flutist Niccolo Dothel (1721-1810) was originally from Lorraine but moved to Florence. Together with Nardini, the two belonged to the core of the local court orchestra. Dothel has left behind numerous compositions for the flute; His tenured work in Florence may have prepared the ground of a new 'school' that combined a French-style of flute playing and stylistic elements from Italian violin music. A good example of this is this particular flute trio in E minor.
