Trio in h-moll [Trio in B minor]
Nichelmann, C

Christoph Nichelmann's Trio in G minor for two flutes and basso continuo (or piano) is a notably exquisite example of the trio sonata form. Nichelmann is particularly adept at engaging both solo flutes in clever conversation that crosses barlines and occasionally hits un-Baroque notes in its treatment of rhythm and line. Especially notable for the quality of melodic material and the fugue effects that occur from both flutes engaging multiple melodies.

An additional optional basso continuo part is provided for cello or bassoon.
