The word "SANKYO" means in Japanese "The Three Sounds" and the Sankyo trademark symbolizes the Japanese word "Hibiki", which reflects the triangle formed by its three founders, emphasizing the sound as the essence of music.

The first Sankyo flute was manufactured in 1968 in the city of Sayama, close to Tokyo and today, SANKYO’s 70 employees make flutes for flutists around the world. In addition to the esthetics and design, flutists are drawn to the perfection and security of the mechanisms made possible through computer aided quality control and proprietary manufacturing techniques. Sankyo continues to innovate in order to meet the demands of flute players. Their Concave Cork Disk Assembly allows the player to produce a higher volume of sound, a resonant balance between each note of the scale, great stability in intonation while their special B foot mechanism increases movement speed.

Acclaimed throughout the world for beauty of tone and evenness of technique, each Sankyo instrument is made from carefully selected materials (even 24K gold and platinum) and is constructed by skilled and dedicated craftsmen. Sankyo Flutes are able to meet the demands of flutists everywhere.
