The Seventh Wave
Whitefield, M

Mark Whitefield presents The Seventh Wave, for alto flute (or concert flute) alone.

The Seventh Wave is a collection of four connected pieces, which are inspired by the myth and symbolism of a tidal cycle. Musically speaking the individual pieces do not seek to represent the physical characteristics of the tidal cycle as such, but are more concerned with a response to the spiritual and emotional symbolism that are inherent in such an event. Harmonically ambiguous and rhythmically fluid, these pieces explore a wide range of the alto flute s capabilities. These four fairly large scale movements make a great challenge for an adventurous player.

Duration: 6 50. For the advanced player.
