Les Chants de Nectaire version Integrale
Koechlin, C

Charles Koechlin's Les Chants de Nectaire, for flute alone, is presented here in a full collection integrating all three separate books (Opus 198, 199, and 200).

In composing Les Chants de Nectaire, Koechlin provided the flute with one of its greatest landmark works in quantitative terms, but above all in qualitative terms. Given the composer's prodigious creativity, it is hardly surprising to discover this set of 96 pieces providing over three hours of music.

Les Chants de Nectaire are grouped into three series. The first is directly drawn from the book by Anatole France. The second and thirds series (Dans la foret antique and Prieres) were clearly inspired by Virgil. These three cycles are highly emblematic of one of the techniques that Koechlin particularly treasured: monody. There are a distillation of his melodic science and also his prodigious imagination and great sensitivity.

This integrated edition includes details, playing suggestions, and backgrounds of all 96 pieces.
