Abbott, AN :: A Scotsman Visits Tennessee
A Scotsman Visits Tennessee
Abbott, AN
Scot-Jock is a real Scots patriot, but he also loves America, and especially Tennessee! As he does this, the old bagpipe drone is always ringing in his ears... even when whistling the American tune!
Instrumentation: 3 C Flutes (optional Piccolo doubles Flute 1), Alto Flute (or C Flute), Bass Flute (or Alto Flute)

Nature Speaks (Alpine Echoes)

The music attempts to transport the listener to the lofty mountain peaks where the deafening silence is only broken occasionally by nature's sounds and these sounds are answered by the returning muted echoes which drift from peak to peak but maintaining the tranquility of undisturbed peace.

Wind-Blown Bluegrass
Abbott, AN

Adam, A :: O Holy Night
O Holy Night
Adam, A
The concept of the expandable form gives a great deal of versatility in any flute choir situation. This arrangement works successfully using a quartet of C flutes on the first four parts. As other instruments are added, they expand harmonic support, reinforce a line of another part and/or introduce new counter melodies. The integrity of the arrangement is never compromised, only enhanced. The expandable flute choir arrangement has been widely embraced by flute choirs worldwide. -

Albeniz, ILeyenda was composed by Isaac Albeniz in 1892 as the prelude movement of his three-movement suite, Chants d'Espagne. The name Asturias was given to the piece posthumously by the German publisher Hofmeister, however, it should be noted that the music is not suggestive of the folk music of the Asturias region in Spain. Rather, the music is said to imitate the Flamenco dance traditions of the Andalusian region.

Alfven, H :: Herdsmaiden's Dance
Herdsmaiden's Dance
Alfven, HSwedish composer Hugo Alfven (1872 1960) was born in Stockholm and studied at the Royal College of Music (Kungliga Musikhogskolan) from 1887 to 1891. The 'Herdsmaiden s Dance' ('Vallflickans Dans') is part of the music from his three-act ballet 'Bergakungen,' which was premiered in 1923.
The idea for the story behind this ballet can be traced back to his friendship with Swedish illustrator John Bauer. In 1915, Bauer presented Alfven with the idea to compose a ballet based around the character of the herdsmaiden. As a result, 'Bergakungen' was created, and from that ballet, we have this delightful dance, arranged here for solo flute and flute choir.
Instrumentation: Solo Flute, 3 C Flutes, Alto Flute (or Flute 4), Bass Flute (Contrabass Flute/Contralto Flute)
