Arrieu's 3 duos faciles [3 easy duets], for flute and bassoon, contains three short, charming pieces suitable for beginning students.

Kari Baek's Kaeti (Playfullness), for flute and bassoon, both matches and defies its title.

Opening with a dancing vivace, the music soon segues into a slower back-and-forth cantabile. The musicians come to a pause, then engage in a frenetic conversation before returning to the cantabile and, finally, return to the opening vivace.

For advanced players.

Gianfranco Clemente Barbera's Deuterus, for flute and bassoon, takes the form of continuous diversions. An opening theme grows, by turns, into bouncy and quasi-jazzy ideas, before a return to the opening melodies and a quite end.

Three Duos, op. 27 for Flute and Bassoon (or Cello)

This suite of pieces from Carmen have been masterfully arranged by Peter Simpson. This new volume was re-engraved in 2012 and includes four movements: Aragonaise, Intermezzo, Les Dragons d'Alcala, Danse Bohme, previously only available seperately. Each of the movements work wonderfully as short, individual pieces or encores. For a full length work, the entire suite can be performed. Lots of fun to perform and very popular. Includes score and parts.

Allan Blank's Seven Silhouettes, for flute and bassoon, is a series of seven self-contained vignettes (plus an introduction) in a wide variety of characters. Well-written, variously charming, intriguing, and playful.

Allan Blank's Trio for flute, bassoon, and piano is in four movements. The overall character of the work is lyrical and playful with touches of dramatic accents. The joining and separation of the two wind instruments, either with or against the piano, is a fundamental constructional feature of the work.

In the first movement, a long melodic line is set off against shorter figures in the piano. This interaction generates the evolution of the movement. The second movement, marked Spirited, gradually realeases its energy and ends quietly. The piano introduces the slow third movement and accompanies the flute for its long line followed by another long line for the bassoon. The final section brings all three instruments together with an underlying dialogue between the flute and bassoon. The fourth movement starts with a brief assertive gesture followed by a three measure figure, in the low register of the piano, that is used somewhat as an ostinato.

Barney Childs' Duo for flute and bassoon is a 9-minute work that explores longer sonorities and the interaction of almost Stravinskyanesque sounds put into solo form and slid against each other.
