From the composer:
'This little show-piece was written, in 1970 and 71,f or two of my favorite instruments and their players. I am interested in discovering the procedures necessary to combine the two main innovative streams of the 20th Century (serialism et al and jazz, etc) into one viable style. Here, I have perhaps succeeded in adding elements of easy appeal and virtuosity to a serious piece.
