Sonata in C Major, by Reynaldo Hahn, arranged for Flute and Piano by Danilo Mezzadri. Venezuelan-born French composer Reynaldo Hahn composed this sonata originally for violin and piano in 1926. The Sonata starts with a lyrical movement that stylistically resembles Gabriel Fauré’s way of writing with its beautiful and expressive melodies that continuously alternate between the flute and the piano. The second movement is an absolute contrast of the mesmerizing lyricism encountered before. The title is "12 C.V. (horses) – 8 cylinders – 5000 turns", which describes a transportation vehicle that Hahn used while traveling from Deauville and Cannes Casino where he was appointed as musical director, to Paris so he could be able to attend the first performances of his work. Lastly, in the third movement Hahn rings back the elegance and beauty of the delicate melodies enriched with a bit of fury and virtuosity.
