Serebrier, J
The first four notes of Serebrier's Tango in Blue are a direct quote from the final four notes of Serebrier's Symphony No. 2, almost as if he was picking up where the Symphony left off. After writing experimental works during the sixties and seventies, the Tango (and the Symphony) are a return to basics, and use Latin American rhythms and melodic turns to create a concert piece that has since become vastly popular.
