Welcome to the RBP Foundation's Music by Black Composers (MBC) series for flute! After 24 years of research, and published volumes for violin and keyboard, MBC has begun a collaboration with the National Flute Association (NFA) to create this present volume. 

The flute series is intended for those studying privately as traditional or Suzuki students, for those studying in groups with their band director, and for children and adult learners. Each piece in 'MBC Flute Volume 1' has a flute accompaniment (the piano part is sold in a separate folio). In addition to making this repertoire available, these books educate through articles and interviews. Each volume includes biographies for every composer, features on Black classical music making through history, and profiles of Black role models in classical music, past and present. 

MBC and the NFA hope that, in part through exposure to this repertoire, current and future generations of performers, presenters, teachers, and audience members will expect and demand that music on our concert stages and in our classrooms reflect all of the wonderful diversity of classical music in our own communities and around the world.
