Ravel's Valses Nobles et Sentimentals, originally inspired by the waltzes of Franz Schubert, were originally for piano but later transcribed for orchestra, where they have entered mainstream repertoire as an eclectic blend of Impressionist and Modernist music, and are present in hundreds of pieces of contemporary media.
