Exercices pour la flute piccolo [Exercises for the Piccolo]
Beaumadier, J-L
One of the most renown piccoloists of modern time, and former piccoloist of the Orchestre National de France, Jean-Louis Beaumadier shares his expertise of the piccolo in this book. This book is clearly written and provides in detail information and exercises for the full range of the instrument, including exercises in sound, intonation, tonguing and articulation, dynamics in all registers, trills, and intonation with two piccolos.
Beaumadier states, "The fundamental idea about the piccolo is to consider it as an instrument in its own right, a vibrant solo instrument like the violin and not just a part-time accessory for the modern flautist. With this in mind, you must work for hours on end, playing the flute repertoire until you find the sound and master all the difficulties this book is intended for students who can already play the flute. I am publishing my thoughts on the instrument in the hope that it may help some of the numerous flute players interested in the piccolo. This book is a personal view of the piccolo based on my past experiences."
