Donemus presents 'Genieting VI' for solo piccolo by composer Willem Boogman. 'Genieting VI' was written for the Dutch piccolo Project, an initiative of flutist Ilonka Kolthof with the aim of creating more repertoire for the piccolo.
The composer writes about this piece, 'This piece consists of nine variations on a passacaglia theme of my own. The theme with which the piece opens sounds in the low- and middle register of the piccolo. While the variations expand into the higher regions and become more complicated, the passacaglia theme repeats itself unchanged. It is the art of the piccoloist to make these almost simultaneously occurring musical elements audible.'
