Theodore Presser presents "Orchestral Excerpts for Piccolo," selected and annotated by Jack Wellbaum, solo piccolo of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

Wellbaum writes about this collection, "This book, which took several years to complete, is a collection of excerpts compiled during my many years in the Cincinnati Symphony. The selection of contents is based on those excerpts most frequently asked for in auditions. I was very fortunate in preparing this book to be able to work with my piccolo students at CCM. All of them are flutists with varying levels of piccolo ability. Using these excerpts with piano accompaniment proved to be a valuable teaching tool by making students more aware of the orchestral harmonies, intonation pitfalls, tempi, and rhythms - factors which are crucial in any audition or performance."
