The first of collections for two flutes and piano, arranged by Paul Edmund-Davies and John Alley.
The repertoire for two flutes and piano is not overflowing with works by great composers, who have focused mainly on symphonies, concerti, string quartets, vocal works, and piano sonatas. These arrangements bring many works composed for other idioms by well known composers into the flute duet repertoire. The change in instrumentation also brings these pieces out of the symphonic concert hall to those who would be unlikely, under normal circumstances, to have the opportunity to perform them in their original format. Intended for professionals and amateurs alike, most of the melodies will be well known and relatively easy to put together to perform, while some are more technically demanding. This volume contains six works by Bach, Bizet, Mozart, Rossini, and Brahms with a piano score and a separate part for each instrument.
