Previous winners have gone on to distinguished solo careers and positions in major orchestras, and they teach in top conservatories and colleges. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003eFlutists ages 18-27 are eligible to compete in the annual New York Flute Club Competition. Preliminary and final rounds will be held on \u003cstrong\u003eApril 23, 2022\u003c\/strong\u003e, with the final round presented at the New York Flute Fair that day. Check back with us later for repertoire requirements after those become available!\u003c\/u\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003chr\u003e\u003ch1 align=\"center\"\u003eYoung Musicians Competition\u003c\/h1\u003e\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003eThe \u003cstrong\u003eYoung Musicians Contest\u003c\/strong\u003e, first held in 2008, was designed to foster the development of young local flutists by exposing them to a healthy competitive environment and allowing them to receive constructive comments from professional flutists.The contest is divided into four age groups for students playing the Western concert flute (Boehm flute in C): ages 8 and under, 9 to 11, 12 to 14, and 15 to 18 (in the last category, students must currently be in high school or the home schooling equivalent). Students who play non-Western flutes (e.g., pan flute, African harmonic flute, Chinese bamboo flute, shakuhachi) will be judged separately by judges who have experience with the students' instrument. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003eThis year, video entries for the Young Musicians Contest are due \u003cstrong\u003eSunday, February 13, 2022\u003c\/strong\u003e. Winners will be announced on or before Sunday, March 13, 2022. Winners will be invited to present their audition pieces IN PERSON at the 2022 NY Flute Fair, scheduled for \u003cstrong\u003eSaturday, April 23, 2022\u003c\/strong\u003e.  \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePrizes:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cul\u003e\u003cli style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003eThe winner in each age category will receive a winner's certificate and will perform in the winners' recital at the NYFC 2022 Flute Fair.
