Miguel del Aguila's Miami Flute Suite, composed in 2014, was written for flutist Nestor Torres, who premiered the work the same year in Miami, Florida. The three movements, all based on material drawn from Aguila's earlier works, are quite different in style and mood. With its irregular, shifting meters, and the wide range of emotional expression it requires, the suite is a tour de force for the flute.
