Joachim Andersen, along with his brother Vigo, was a flutist, composer, and conductor of Danish decent. He had an extensive career performing, teaching, conducting and composing.

The 24 Studies, op. 21 are a set of challenging etudes in all major and minor keys. The etudes in this opus work on ornamentations, fast finger work, multiple articulations, embouchure flexibility and melodic phrasing.
