Gerard Billaudot presents '28 Etudes [28 Studies] sur les modes a transpositions limitees d'Olivier Messiaen (on modes with limited transpositions by Olivier Messiaen)' by Guy Lacour.

This series of studies has been specially written to help flutists to get to know the various modes, with a limited number of transpositions, in the style of Oliver Messiaen. As each study is based on one of the seven modes, or on one of its transpositions, it is best to do some preliminary work on the scales that go to make up each mode, before working on the studies themselves. In this way the student will become more familiar with the language, which otherwise could initially present some problems in sight-reading. There are already some excellent works available which introduce these scales, and we have therefore refrained from repeating the same material in this book.
