The source situation of this work is particularly complex: in his critical report on the New Bach Edition, Thomas Kohlhase identifies as many as 15 sources plus additional copies. The assumption that this work was written for the lute, which is not uncontested at all, is based on a - yet incomplete - intabulation made by Leipzig-based lawyer and lute player Johann Christian Weyrauch. In view of a few notation peculiarities (especially in the Double) and the unusual elements of style in the other versions (all written for keyboard instruments), the instrumentation issue has not been settled yet. Early assumptions, e.g. by Hermann Keller, claim the work to be 'a transcription of a lost work for flute ... and piano'; Kohlhase largely holds the same view.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Zimmermann Music","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46964923269414,"sku":"9790010341606","price":20.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0827\/3559\/5814\/products\/D009790010341606.jpg?v=1697450839","url":"https:\/\/www.flute4u.com\/products\/bach-js-suite-a-moll-bwv-997-suite-in-a-minor-bwv-997","provider":"Carolyn Nussbaum Music Company","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
