His composition,  \u003cem\u003eConcert-Paraphrase op. 18\u003c\/em\u003e on motives from Schubert's Opera \u003cem\u003eThe Conspirators\u003c\/em\u003e or \u003cem\u003eThe Domestic War \u003c\/em\u003eD.787 for two flutes and piano shows both his of love opera and for Schubert! Perhaps one of Schubert’s lesser known operas at the time, Doppler, however was compelled to share melodies of this opera with flutists. Eight minutes in length, the piano opens with a delightful flowing melody in A major, which the two flutes soon take over. The simplicity of the melody soon is replaced by technical variations on the original theme.  In typical encore style, the accompanying piano supports the texture of the flutes lightly, allowing both flutes to dance about uninhibitedly, and robust with fanfare, as the flutes are resting. There is a lengthy cadenza for both flutes right before a fortissimo ending with piano.
