In parallel, he studied the musicology course at the University of Paris VIII and completed training in choral direction at the Centre d’études polyphoniques in Paris with Philippe Caillard. In 1988, with Pascal Gaigne, he founded and then directed the Pythagore Ensemble in Toulouse, where he is a teacher of electro-acoustic composition at the Conservatory. In 1999 he was in residence at the Villa Kujoyama, where he nurtured his fascination for the Asiatic world. The music of Bertrand Dubedout explores the instrumental and vocal repertories, together with those of acousmatics and mixed music, both in their specificities and their possible interactions. His style is based on ultra-chromaticism in quarter tones, with pitch scales of variable density.
