The intent was to portray a lone male Eastern Rosella, one of Australia's most beautiful parrots, first of all finding a mate and then calling to her over a little distance. This is not a direct transcription of birdsong, but more an impression of the tremendous energy the Rosella puts into his mating efforts.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eRiver Song: I have, for a long time, enjoyed the challenge of writing solo works, because in the absence of harmony the melodic content becomes all-important. This impressionistic work is in three sections.
