There are sections throughout the work when some of the flutes play a back beat rhythm on the second count of the measure. This helps keep motion in the music and adds a little interest. It is important to be rhythmically accurate when encountering these sections. There is a recurring, pleasing countermelody that is heard throughout the work. It can become almost haunting. Keep it flowing and lyrical. I wrote this arrangement of one of my favorite Christmas carols to convey a joyful holiday feeling.
