In the Sonata he even makes a direct reference to Scriabin's one-movement piano sonatas. The unusual idea to write a piece for flute alone in this time frame may have been triggered by Debussy's Syrinx, and the Sonata Appassionata subsequently became the first unacompanied German piece for the flute in the 20th century.  However, instead of following Debussy's example of a pastoral and mythical setting, Karg-Elert chose to extend the demands for the flute with a multitude of extreme emotional characteristics. \u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Southern Music Company (SMC)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46968348803366,"sku":"884088751272","price":9.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0827\/3559\/5814\/products\/C000884088751272_d.jpg?v=1697509580","url":"https:\/\/www.flute4u.com\/products\/karg-elert-s-sonata-op-140-appassionata-in-f-sharp-minor","provider":"Carolyn Nussbaum Music Company","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
