By the time she finished a three-year period of studies she had written eleven compositions, several of which are still in the repertoire, notably the \u003cem\u003eSonata for Violin and Piano\u003c\/em\u003e. From 1961 to 1966 Miss Loudová held the distinction of being the first and only female student of composition at the Prague Academy of Arts and Music. Her \u003cem\u003eSecond Symphony\u003c\/em\u003e for alto, choir, and large orchestra, was written as a graduation work. \u003cem\u003eRhapsody in Black\u003c\/em\u003e, a ballet, won a prize at the Mannheim competition (1967) and its composer was invited to participate in the Darmstadt, Holland, and Kassel festivals.
