The entire composition focuses on exploiting the different sound colours of the three instruments involved. The charm and exciting character of the 'Dance of the Polyps' results from the use of extremely high pitches, particularly the piano part. The 2nd movement, 'Stalactites', is a tone picture with a wide range of colours in all registers of flute and oboe. Finally the movement 'Time for Raki', is dominated by the 9\/8 measure, the basis of Turkish folklore music. The 'Noble Dinner Music' can be performed with two flutes instead of one flute and one oboe. The TRIO PAPILLON has recorded this work on a CD, which is available from Bayer Records (No.: 100 215).
