He was recognized as England s greatest composer in his lifetime and for more than a hundred years after his death. This piece is from the cantata  Come ye Sons of Art' and was written as a birthday ode for Queen Mary. Henry Purcell apparently jokingly scored  Sound the Trumpet' with no trumpets.
