'There are relations of symmetry and of complementarity with this work. The immediate contrast provided by the deep timbre of the bass flute is further enhanced by the predominantly static and resonant climate, quite unlike the restless mobility \u003cem\u003eRestless White\u003c\/em\u003e. Just a few sounds are alternated, barely ruffled by small fluctuations and only rarely interrupted by very brief moments of isolated tension. Only in the finale is there an episode of violent assertiveness, characterized by the conquest of the top register of the instrument through a gesture repeated with maniacal energy.
