Rescued from oblivion at the end of the 19th century by Saint-Saens and Paul Dukas, this opera was recreated some time later. Most probably did Taffanel an active role in the process. Some elements (in the piano interludes, particularly) are of course typical of the 19th century musical approach of that earlier repertoire. As always, one should pay particular attention to articulation (light and precise) and purity of sound, two essential features of Taffanel's technique.
