Paul Taub Young Artist Competition
The Seattle Flute Society is pleased to announce its 10th Annual Young Artist Competition. In honor of the late Paul Taub, the Young Artist Competition will henceforth be known as the Paul Taub Young Artist Competition.
The final round of the 2022 competition will take place on April 10, 2022 as a part of the 2022 Seattle Flute Festival (Guest Artist: Jennifer Grim), with Preliminary Round entries due on February 20, 2022. Finalists will be selected and informed by February 28, 2022. In the event of unforeseen COVID restrictions, the final round will take place online.
open to all flutists ages 18 to 29 on the day of the competition, April 11, 2021
1st Place $1000 | 2nd Place $500 | 3rd Place $250
Preliminary Recorded Round
- Any piece from Flute Music by French Composers, ed. Moyse
- Adolphus Hailstork, Yuhwa for solo flute
Final Live Round
- Each finalist must curate a 20-minute uninterrupted program of their choice demonstrating the breadth of their technical and artistic abilities through a variety of musical styles and periods.
- Must include Ken Benshoof's Bittersweet for flute and piano (2019, Alry)
