Flute stands, pegs and cradles by Sharir Wood Designs are unique pieces of handmade art both functional and beautiful. Each piece is designed and handcrafted by the artist himself utilizing common and exotic woods in ways that showcase their natural beauty, color and grain. The artist prefers not to use colored stains but rather finishes each piece in a protective, low gloss, durable clear coat.
Below are examples of the artist's completed designs to date along with their availability for purchase. The artist welcomes commissions of his work through the Carolyn Nussbaum Music Company based on common characteristics to previous works. Commissions such as "flute stand using maple and mahogany similar to #162" or "alto flute and piccolo cradle made of white oak" are gladly accepted challenges to the artist and have resulted in many of the pieces shown below. Keep in mind that each piece is ultimately an expression by the artist himself and will therefore, and necessarily, be unique. When ordering a Sharir Wood Designs flute stand, peg or cradle for your beloved instrument please choose the product which most closely resembles your desire and then provide additional information (make & model of instrument(s), preferences of wood types, etc) so that we may coordinate your request with the artist. Depending on the extent or uniqueness of your request for any commissioned pieces, prices may vary but will be clearly communicated and will require approval by the customer prior to the creation of the work.
