Start preparing your TMEA etudes on day 1 with renowned Texas flute teachers. This event is open to Texas high school flute players, teachers, and band directors. In person attendees are asked to bring their flute and a music stand.

Meet our guest artists:
Rebecca Cauthron taught in the DFW area including Dallas College and Duncanville ISD for over 25 years where her students won All-State placement and National Competitions. She recently moved to Austin where she is teaching privately in Pflugerville. Ms. Cauthron has also accepted a new position as Educator Coordinator and International Teacher Trainer for Musikgarten, Inc., an early childhood Music and Movement curriculum for ages birth through 9 including three years of group piano. In addition, her business, CircleSong Music, has launched and will bring this holistic music and movement piano curriculum to after school programs across the nation. Ms. Cauthron remains active in the DFW flute performance community where she is honored to be the flutist for the Greater Dallas Choral Society and joyfully plays with the Flutes Unlimited Flute Choir.
Subin Cho is a distinguished Korean American flutist whose musical journey began with a simple fascination for the flute’s shimmering sound. What started as a childhood hobby quickly grew into a deep and enduring passion for music. A pivotal moment came during her sophomore year of high school, when she won the Donna Marie Competition in Texas. Performing in a concert hall for the first time, with the final round open to the public, Subin expected nerves but instead discovered a genuine joy in sharing music with an audience. That experience solidified her aspiration to pursue a career as a professional musician.
Her accomplishments are numerous and distinguished. Subin has won the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition and was awarded the Grand Prize at the Concert Artists “VIRTUOSO” International Competition, culminated in a performance at Carnegie Hall. She was featured on NPR’s From the Top and was a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. Subin has also performed in serveral master classes for well known flutists, including Jeffrey Khaner, Jim Walker, Carol Wincenc, Jasmine Choi, Mimi Stillman, Julien Beaudiment, Viviana Guzmán, Jean Ferrandis, Amy Porter, and Sarah Jackson.
Couple of month ago in May, Subin graduated with a Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School under the mentorship of Robert Langevin. She previously earned her Bachelor of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, studying with Marina Piccinini. Outside of her musical pursuits, Subin enjoys playing pickleball and cherishes time spent with friends.
Praised for her "gift for drawing out the best in their students" by The Dallas Morning News, Monica Song has been teaching flute in Dallas for more than 30 years. She received Texas Music Teacher Association (TMTA) Outstanding Pre-Collegiate Teaching Achievement Award, Seoul National University Texas Alumni Association Achievement Award, and numerous teacher recognition awards from Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), National Flute Association (NFA), and William & Donna Marie Haire Competition for her students achieving top prizes in the national level competitions. Last year, 9 of her students made All State and had 1st chair for five years.
Monica previously served as a Principal Flute of Korean Broadcasting System Symphony Orchestra in South Korea, Principal Flute of Alexandria Symphony Orchestra in Virginia, member of Seoul Woodwind Quintet. She attended Seoul Arts High School, Seoul National University School of Music, and Peabody Conservatory of Music. Her principal teachers include Soonja Ko, Wallace Mann, and Britton Johnson.
Monica has sponsored a series of Young Artist Recitals and invited exceptionally gifted young musicians to perform for the DFW audiences, especially for aspiring students to get inspired. She has also served as a board of director of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Inc. and the Dallas Symphonic Festival Wind Division Competition Chair.
