Anton Rubinstein's 'Melodie [Melody] op. 3, No. 1' for woodwind quintet in F major is an easy-intermediate level quintet. Anton Rubinstein (1829-1894) is a Russian composer and one of the greatest pianists of the nineteenth century. Anton studied music across Europe, including the notable cities of Berlin and Vienna where he studied piano and composition. He founded the Russian Music Society in 1859 and became conductor of its orchestral concerts and in 1862 he founded and became the director o the Imperial (or St. Petersburg) Conservatory. Rubinstein has a large collection of works, including operas, six symphonies, five piano concerti, songs, piano pieces, and numerous chamber works.
