The North Bridge flute line was founded by David Kilkenny, Brent Beech and Frank Sarcia and debuted in August 2014 at the National Flute Convention. All musical instruments contain critical components that tremendously enhance its sound quality and playability. For every flute built by North Bridge, a Taiwan-made flute body will be paired with head joint hand-crafted in the United States by noted flute artisan, Chris McKenna.
The flute headjoint is one of the most important components of the flute, providing the greatest contribution to the flute's tonal quality. All North Bridge flutes feature a sterling silver headjoint handmade in the USA by Chris McKenna. For over 30 years, Chris McKenna has been crafting some of the finest flute headjoints available. The art of creating a flute head joint requires many years of experience, bringing together a blend of technology, craftsmanship and artistry. The McKenna headjoint is designed and crafted to be both responsive and flexible while offering superb projection and control, making it easier to produce beautiful high notes and have great dynamic control.
The North Bridge NB- 700 finishes the intermediate series with its professional features at an affordable price. Similar to the 600 with its sterling silver tubing, the 700 adds a C# trill key that helps lessen the difficulty of some technical passages It also adds weight to the flute, which is ideal for those who have a stronger airflow than others. The pointed arms on the mechanism will help the young flutist play with a lighter touch developing smooth, effortless technique. The 700 is available with a sterling silver McKenna head joint with a 14k riser. The 14k riser adds a warm, colorful quality to the sound in all registers and provides flexibility in tone color and dynamic range.
The North Bridge NB-700 flute features a Sterling silver headjoint and body, silver-plated mechanism with pointed arms, open holes, off-set G, C# trill key and B foot
A split-E mechanism is available for an additional cost.

Avery WJul 31, 2022, 17:57This is a wonderful flute. I am no pro by any means but I played the flute in concert band for 6 years. I went flute shopping at Carolyn Nussbaum at the recommendation of my masterful flute private lesson teacher and I definitely admire the store's specific dedication to all things flute. I have played this specific flute for about 3.5 years, and it truly shows a difference in tonal quality compared to my cheaper first Yamaha flute (no disrespect to Yamaha). It made my tone sound very good even though I am not a very good player. Also, it is simply a beautiful flute and the wood (cork) under the Eb key on the foot joint is nice. It is a sturdy flute as well: It once accidentally fell off my music stand (an irresponsible move on my part), and I had to get it repaired, but it still sounded the same after it was repaired. I would definitely recommend this flute to my fellow flutists.
