Hymn Meditations for Flute Alone, arranged by Kathleen A. Melago. This collection of hymn meditations is designed for maximum flexibility for church musicians, yet the meditations could certainly be performed in other settings, like recitals or for personal enjoyment or prayer. The hymns were chosen to ensure options for each liturgical season: Creator of the Stars of Night (Advent), What Child Is This? (Christmas), Were You There? (Lent), At the Lamb's High Feast (Easter), Alleluia, Sing to Jesus (Ordinary Time), and Praise to the Lord (Ordinary Time). Each piece can be performed as written, or in a shorter form which skips the unadorned hymn and focuses on the meditation. While the meditations were composed for flute, they could also effectively be played on the violin.
