Composer Joachim Andersen (1847-1909) is best known for his extraordinary contributions to the flute etude repertoire. However, he also wrote 54 lovely works for flute and piano, including this collection of salon miniatures. Salon music was very popular with the wealthy in the 19th century. Miniature pieces like these were created with the sole purpose of entertaining the listeners. These pieces make wonderful recital selections for players at a variety of levels due to their lush, simple melodies and accessible forms.
