Bach, JS :: 33 Solos for the Virtuoso Flutist
33 Solos for the Virtuoso Flutist
Bach, JS
International Music Company presents '33 Solos for the Virtuoso Flutist' originally composed by J.S. Bach and arranged for solo flute by Robert Stallman.
'As many would concure, there really is no better way to begin the day than by playing Bach. From a daily immersion in the music of Bach, we can build and maintain a strong foundation. Moreover, for both our technical and musical development, there is nothing more satisfying or uplifting. I have gathered these pieces, most of which appear here in flute arrangement for the first time, as a sequel to my earlier collection: 'Bach, 66 Pieces for Flute'. After opening with the monumental 'Ciaconna', I have again ordered the various selections in the form of an extended baroque suite, beginning with preludes and closing with gigues and allegros. Drawn from some of Bach's greatest and most challenging instrumental compositions, these arrangements are intended primarily for private study rather than public performance, although the 'Ciaconna' and perhaps a handful of other selections might do well as concert fare in the hands of the more venturesome flute virtuosi.
