Musicians Publications presents J.S. Bach's Sheep May Safely Graze arranged for flute choir plus by Bill Holcombe. Scored for 4 C flutes, alto flute, and bass flute, this arrangement also includes an optional parts for bass clarinet, cello, or bassoon as well as an optional contra bass flute part to add to the bass sound if desirable. This arrangement is intermediate-advanced in difficulty.
In addition to his 199 surviving sacred cantatas, Bach composed several secular cantatas for various occasions. Cantata 208, the Hunting Cantata, more popularly known today by the title Sheep May Safely Graze , was written in 1716 for the thirty-first birthday of Duke Christian of Sachsen-Weissenfels and was performed as banquet music in his hunting lodge after a hunt. This well-known soprano aria is preceded by a recitative whose text is as follows:
Shall Pales be the last thus her respects to pay? No! I would raise my voice in song, so as the woods and land with vivats ring, here in this lovely field in honor of our Prince, I sing a joyous song of praise!
The aria text is: Flocks and herds may safely pasture when their shepherd guards them well. They whose monarch loves them truly knows their needs and fills them duly, will in peace and concord dwell.

For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
