'Flute Fugue #1 was composed by David Bailey while he was conductor of The Nashua Flute Choir in Nashua, N.H. Since many audience members are not familiar with flutes other than the C flute and the piccolo, he wrote this piece to describe each of the instruments in the flute choir. Using the fugue theme, this piece demonstrates the piccolo, C flute, alto flute, and bass flute allowing the audience to follow as each voice is added to the ensemble, until by the end of the piece they are hearing all four voices together. '
