'Flute Fugue #2 was composed by David Bailey while he was conductor of The Nashua Flute Choir in Nashua, N.H. Since many audience members are not familiar with flutes other than the C flute and the piccolo, he wrote this piece to describe each of the instruments. Using the fugue theme, this piece demonstrates the piccolo, Eb flute, C flute, alto flute, and bass flute allowing the audience to follow as each voice is added to the ensemble. (An alternate second piccolo part is included if there is no Eb flute available). All members of the flute choir are included by the end of the piece, so the audience will hear not only each individual flute but the full, rich sound of the entire flute choir as well.'
