Balleron, L :: The Noisy Bird
Little Piper presents 'The Noisy Bird [L'Oiseau Tapageur]' for piccolo and piano by Louis Balleron, edited by Ervin Monroe.
The editor writes, 'This delightful little piece for piccolo and piano was written by Louis Balleron, a nineteenth century flutist who was the first flute in the L'Opera Comique. He composed this work for a friend, who often performed with him in concert. Though it is written for piccolo solo, it also works quite well when played on the flute.
'This composition displays the virtuosity of the performer in a highly entertaining format. It contains many of the musical cliches used during this period, and the performer should use rubato in flamboyant passages to make the piece even more charming. 'The Noisy Bird' makes a great encore or specialty program number. It is meant to be played in the spirit of musical fun.'
