Bassingthwaighte, S :: Dog Days
Publisher: ALRY Publications
ALRY Publications presents 'Dog Days' for flute choir by composer Sarah Bassingthwaighte.
The composer writes about this piece, 'Dog Days' is a set of four short, fun movements for flute choir. The first movement, 'Morning Stroll,' is an easygoing, lilting piece, and is meant to bring to mind a morning walk with our favorite pooch. The second movement, 'The Doorbell,' tells the story of a visitor ringing the doorbell of the house, causing the little dog inside to bark fiercely. No one answers the door, so the visitor rings again. This time, the neighborhood dogs chime in. The visitor rings impatiently a third time, and all the dogs go crazy! Finally, the visitor gives up and walks away. In the third movement, 'The Perfect Sun Spot,' our canine friend has found a lovely, warm spot in the sun to stretch out for a while. The four and final movement, "Zoomies!,' is a snapshot of those times when our pup gets a case of the zoomies, and runs in circles, some wide and some small. The zoomies end as quickly as they started.
