Musicians Publications presents Ludwig Van Beethoven's Ode to Joy from his Symphony No. 9 in D Minor arranged for flute choir plus by Bill Holcombe. Scored for 4 C flutes, alto flute, and bass flute, this arrangement also includes an optional parts for bass clarinet or bassoon to add to the bass sound if desirable.
Since his early twenties, Beethoven had wanted to write music for Schiller s An die Freude (Ode to joy), a glorified drinking song with a strong humanistic message. He toyed with it several times, sketched a number of musical ideas, and even included two lines from Schiller in his opera Fidelio. When he finally settled down to work on a new symphony his first in a decade in 1822, he was impatient to pull together all the ideas that had been germinating in his imagination for thirty years. (And, according to Anton Schindler, only after he finished it nearly two years later could he again be seen strolling through the streets, . . . greeting many acquaintances or friends after his long seclusion. )

Sheet music, instrument purchases, and Special Order Only (SOO) merchandise are non-returnable.
For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
