Karol Beffa's De Cartes et d'Estampes is a set of five non-thematically connected pieces for three flutes - C flute, flute doubling alto, and bass. Inspired by the kinds of exotic sounds and music worlds championed by Trio d'Argent, the five pieces explore vivid coloration and rhythmic textures set with virtuosic playing and constantly shifting time signatures.
