Bernold, P :: La Technique d'Embouchure
From the publisher, Gerard Billaudot, Phillipe Bernold’s ‘La technique d’embouchure,’ flutist Phillippe Bernold, professor at the Superior National Conservatory of Music in Paris, presents a collection of exercises focusing respectively on energy and breath intensity in order to ‘place’ the tone, like a singer would ‘place’ the voice (see Vocalizes and Intervals), and on embouchure with specific exercises designed to improve lip flexibility and strength for better control of the airflow and a more nuanced playing (see Sons files). The final chapter deals with another embouchure issue: the sound attack. Good control over air column, air stream and lip aperture allows for a full, rich, modulated tone. Such is the purpose of these exercises!
