Pierre Boulez presents Two Excerpts from Le Marteau sans maitre for alto flute alone, or for alto flute with accompanying voice (first extract) or tam-tams and gong (second extract).
From the composer: "Ever since Aurele Nicolet played the solos passages for alto flute to me, I knew that they would be perfectly suitable for study and performance purposes outside the context of the original work. The first part includes the third piece from Le Marteau sans maitre (l'arisanat fureiux), with the original vocal part shown in smaller print. The second part consists of the ninth piece of the original work ('bel edifice et les presentiments' double), with the percussion part in smaller print."
