Quetzal Music presents 'Anthem' for flute and piano by Elizabeth Brown.
The composer writes about this piece: This flute and piano version of Anthem was completed in 1998 at the request of flutist Jayn Rosenfeld, who first performed it at the National Flute Association Convention in Phoenix, Arizona the same year.
The original Anthem, for solo flute and large chamber ensemble, was commissioned by the New York Chamber Ensemble and was completed at the MacDowell Colony in February 1994. It was written for flutist Susan Rotholz, with whom I had just played Bach's St. Matthew Passion. Inspired by her beautiful and passionate playing, the heart of the piece is an original chorale over which the flute sings its narrative while struggling to maintain its identity. The flute's language of microtonal inflections and progressions evolved out of my study of Japanese shakuhachi music and a fascination with birdsong. Stephen Rogers Radcliffe conducted the premiere of March 30, 1994, at Alice Tully Hall.

For other non-instrument merchandise, request return authorization or make an in-person return within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. Items must be unused, undamaged, in their original packaging with all contents, and accompanied by the original receipt or invoice. Electronic media must be unopened.
Shipped returns require prior authorization. Return Authorizations (RAs) are valid for 10 calendar days from issue. The RA number must appear on the package, and the return must arrive within that period.
Defective merchandise may be exchanged for an identical item if requested within 10 calendar days of the original invoice date. After that period, contact the manufacturer. Please contact us promptly about fulfillment errors.
